To inform the content of, and coincide with the launch of the book, The Kindness Fix podcast will feature conversations with a diverse array of interesting people sharing their wisdom, insights, life experiences and perspectives to explore what we mean by compassion, its potential and its limitsWe’ll define compassion, ask whether humans are compassionate as part of their make-up, hear arguments against compassion, and look at how compassion is nurtured through everyday actions.

As the series progresses, we’ll investigate the promise and failures of social welfare and take to task the dominant discourses of those in receipt: scroungers, people who have made bad choices, the feckless and so on. We’ll ask how things can be different if we assert compassion to a greater degree. How might we ‘design’ compassion into our social policy provision? How can we be more compassionate leaders?

This series will be essential listening for anyone concerned about how we relate to one another, and what structures we provide for those most in need of our understanding and help.

The series will take the form of conversational interviews and panel discussions with a range of guests who have lived experience, stories of and expertise in compassion. This will include academics, practitioners, political activists, theologians, journalists, politicians, and people who have or have not received compassion when interacting with help.
