Dr Jason Pandya-Wood (Jason Wood) has researched, taught, worked in and campaigned on social policy and justice issues for 30 years. Starting as a youth campaigner in the 1990s he went on to train as a youth and community worker before commencing an academic career. He is currently Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and an Associate Professor of Social Policy at the University of Nottingham Malaysia.

Jason has long been interested in the ways that social policies shape the lives of people, particularly those on the margins. His academic work has been informed by his own life experiences, his professional background in youth and community work, his activism, and his engagement with politics (including as a one-time prospective parliamentary candidate). He has researched, written about, and taught on a range of diverse topics including the impact of approaches to managing high risk offenders, the ways in which young people participate in their local communities, early intervention through children’s services, and the continued evolution of new forms of community organising in the UK.

He has worked alongside Citizens UK for over ten years, training as a community organiser and supporting the charity to better understand the impact of broad-based community organising. Together, they have produced the podcast series Everyday People Making Change and the report Reweaving the Fabric of Society which looked at the early learning from their growth projects.
